LSR Motorsports kicks off CKNA North Round 1 on a Positive Note
April 19-21, 2024 the team completed the first weekend of CKNA North Regional Competition. Though the team didn't collect any hardware as a whole, the weekend was a success. The majority of the group remained in the top 10 all weekend with a couple of top 5's as well.
This year the team is fielding its largest group of drivers for North Regional Competition. In the Masters class, JD Gunn, Ryan Spierowski, and Joe DeBoever are all returning for a 3rd year. Chris Hamilton (aka Happy) elected to drop the Masters class and just focus on Legends. In addition to Happy in the Legends group, Joe DeBoever is returning to run 2 classes for another season. JD Gunn ran Legends at Spring Nats and Round 1 but will only run select events in the Legends class. A new to the team driver is Steve Mox in Legends. Steve comes from the vintage ranks and years of karting experience.
The Heavy Class has Ryan Spierowski, Katie McDaniel and Linus Gugino all returning from last year. In addition, Nick Brough who ran select events with the group last year is slated to run the whole North schedule and Nationals in 2024. Riley Stasny who run has run locally with the group for many years is stepping into the regional events this year.
Linus Gugino tested the 2 class weekend at G&J Kartway and we will see if he will continue to run Medium in addition to the heavy class.

Spring Nats and Up and Down Weekend for LSR Motorsports
By far JD Gunn would have the better luck over the weekend and come home with P2 in Legends Qualifying and P4 in Masters. When the features were over and tech was cleared he settle into P7 in the Legends and P4 in the Masters. A last minute schedule change on the part of Cup Karts Officials would prevent the Legends drivers from returning to the pit before having to grid for Masters, making setup adjustments a struggle.
The rest of the team participating in the Heavy, Masters and Legends groups would see glimmer's off success, but struggle overall. In the Heavy Class Linus Gugino and Nick Brough would do well qualifying mid pack and avoiding the carnage.. Gugino would have power issues while Brough who is was new to the CRG FS4 just needed some additional laps. The torrential rains on friday preventing dry practice would give both drivers an uphill battle the remainder of the weekend.
Spierowski running Heavy and Masters would sit P18 in Heavy and P5 in Masters at the end of qualifying. Spierowski would both of his masters heats in 3rd setting him up to start the 6th spot for the feature. mechanical issues with leave him with 2 DNFs for the event. Joe DeBoever, running the Masters and Legends, qualified in the 10th spot in Legends and 28th in masters. An engine failure in the 1st round of heats would have him starting both of his features from the back of the pack. In Legends he was able to make up 14 spots, ending up in P12. In Masters he would fall victim to an on track incident that causing damage that would force him to retire.
Next the team will begin preparations for the 1st Round of the Cup Karts North America North Series at G&J Kartway in Camden, Ohio.
